Bride Theo came to my Randy to the Rescue trunk show for my help with choosing a gown to go with her “Steam Punk” wedding theme.  For those of you, like me, who have never heard of “Steam Punk” before, it is the idea of Victorian meets Futuristic, taking vintage pieces and incorporating them in a new creative way.  It now became my job to “marry” ray guns, egg beaters, spectacles, top hats, silver spoons, and lace into a Theo’s “head to hem” makeover.

Theo knew she wanted a form fitted gown to show off her curves.  She also knew she wanted the dress to be a classic backdrop for “Steam Punk” accessories.  This Judd Waddell gown fit all of Theo’s criteria.  The lace gave the gown a beautiful Victorian feel and the trumpet silhouette accentuated Theo’s hourglass figure.

The next step for Theo’s makeover was the creation of custom “Steam Punk” accessories.  I created a custom fascinator, brooch, and bouquet using vintage items such as opera glasses, a travel clock, and silver spoons.

My sketch for Theo’s unique bridal blueprint.

Paul chose hair in a lighter shade of brown with a lot of curl for Theo’s look. Lesley’s use of soft pink on the cheeks and lips allowed Theo’s smoky eyes pop.

Custom fascinator with travel alarm clock, vintage photograph, and top hat!

I used vintage spoons, chains, feathers, and a watch to create unique “Steam Punk” brooch.

These earrings from Cheryl King Couture had the perfect vintage feel to coordinate with Theo’s theme.

To customize Theo’s bouquet, I added more vintage items including opera glasses and hand wrote words on the petals of the roses to give them the feel of pages from an old book.

The addition of a couple crystal accessories from Margaret Rowe and Ti Adoro Jewelry added sparkle to Theo’s bouquet.
