Kelly

Kelly imagined herself in a vintage-inspired lace gown that hugged her in “all the right places”.  Her recent 40lb weight loss gave her hope that she could achieve “her look”.  However, she suffered from a lack of confidence that she desired and she needed me to come to her rescue.

In 2007, Kelly’s mother lost her battle with pancreatic cancer.  Since then, Kelly’s dad has stepped in to fill both parental roles.  Kelly’s dad told me on the Aisle of Style that seeing her final reveal was as emotional as the day Kelly was born.  What a moving and special moment for me!

While Kelly cannot wait to marry the man of her dreams, she feels and incredible void without her mother being there to walk her through it all.  She is trying her best to stay consistently happy, but she can’t help but miss her mom during this time.

Kelly and her fiancé Jason share a love for the paranormal.  On a trip to Disneyworld Jason insisted the two ride the Haunted Mansion ride first.  Halfway through the ride, Jason said, “It takes a special ride to ask a special question.”  There he popped the question and Kelly of course said, “Yes!”  She told me they have even conducted their own “ghost hunts”.  Their love of all things weird and spooky made New Orleans the perfect setting for their destination wedding.  It will take place in an old private home that evokes a sense of the Big Easy’s unique history with a séance, voodoo rituals, and a fortune teller!

Here I illustrated Kelly’s head to hem look with her Bridal Blueprint. This timeless Alencon lace and charmuse gown by Marisa was the perfect choice for their “All Things Ghostly” themed wedding. It also had a “vintage” feel and showcased her hourglass figure beautifully.

With the help of Paul, we chose to style Kelly’s hair down with soft romantic curls. Lesley went with a soft and natural look for Kelly’s make-up with a hint of purple in the eye shadow as the perfect compliment to the crystals in the belt and the bouquet’s flowers.

A stunning crystal and pearl hair comb (Dazzle) by Thomas Knoell was used in the back of Kelly’s hair.

Chandelier earrings of vintage-looking crystals and pearls (Gail) also by Thomas Knoell were a perfect match to the hair comb.

Purple is the color that symbolizes support for the fight against pancreatic cancer. To honor Kelly’s mother, who lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, I sewed on crystals of varying shades of purple onto a beaded belt by Desla Couture.
